We were super excited to learn that Lily Allen is emerging from retirement. While it was amazing to witness her transformation from party loving pop princess to married mother of two, we have to admit that in an era of twerking and tongue thrusting, there's been a genuine Lily Allen shaped hole in the music industry. Yesterday Mrs Cooper took to twitter to announce her latest career move to fans, but first she reverted back to her maiden name, changing her account details in the process. She sent two tweets linking to her website before thanking her followers for their response: "Reading my timeline is getting me so excited. I'm gonna work my ass of in the studio, these next few sessions, for my little bitches."

Lily then had discussions with followers about what her fans should be called. Since her retirement in 2010 a trend has emerged for musicians to name their devotees and it's just like Lily to choose 'Little Bitches' where Rihanna has her 'Navy' and Cheryl Cole opts for 'Soldiers'. The singer's bitingly honest approach to interviews, music and celebrity has always ensured she's stood out amongst the cookie cutter stars. When we met her at the British Fashion Awards last year, at a time when she was pregnant with her second child, her response to our outfit enquiry was simply, 'Tonight I’m wearing a tent!' along with plenty of giggling. Meanwhile when we chatted to Lily's dad at a premiere earlier this year he hinted at his daughter's pop return before explaining how she will balance motherhood and music: "Oh easy. In fact the kids will be in the band. Playing triangle or something."
There may not be any actual music to listen to yet, but that's not stopped us breaking out Lily's back catalogue and having a good old reminisce. And here's what we're hoping her comeback will entail...

Lily Allen is a former Chanel girl doncha you know and we reckon she's got Uncle Karl on speed dial. He may be pretty enamoured with Cara Delevigne these days, but given that he designed Lily's wedding dress he's the man we're placing bets on masterminding her comeback wardrobe.

We think it's fair to say that Lily Allen has the best bangs in the business. She also doesn't shy away from a bonkers colour. Here's hoping she'll have a new 'do or two to debut over the next year.
From the heart-breaking 22 where she portrays a woman struggling to come to terms with being written off by society on the cusp of thirty to the bizarre Who'd Have Known in which she kidnaps Sir Elton John following a bitter feud with him at the GQ award, Lily has had some smashing music videos over the years. We loved her cameo in Pink's recent True Love promo where she appears about two and half minutes in preparing the most passive aggressive carrot and broccoli juice ever. Hurrah for ‘mad housewife’ Lily!

Back in 2010 Instagram had only just launched, now it's EVERYWHERE. Lily has always been an advocate for social media having kicked off her career on Myspace, but now she can chart her progress through planet pop by sharing her behind the scenes photos every step of the way.
