Let's Go Shopping With Mary Kate & Ashley! Olsen Girls Open First Flagship Store For The Row & It Sounds Awesome

16 May 2014 by

OK, so we're not actually going shopping with the Olsen twins, but wouldn't that be great? Even more so once you hear about the fact that the stellar style duo have translated the ultra-luxury ethos of their most premium brand, The Row, into the ultimate debut store. The location? Melrose Place in Los Angeles. The signficance? Well, of course, there are more than enough wealthy and well-dressed types who will be flocking through those doors, but the exact spot used to be a salon where the girls had their hair cut as teens.

So when you're searching for one of the girls' sold-out £22,000 rucksacks, cropped cashmeres or ankle-skimming skirts what will you see? Most unusually, a swimming pool. Yes, a swimming pool! We hadn't thought of it before, but what chicer way to spend the day than lounging the Olsen way? A purchase here, reclining on a mid-century modern chaise longue, a casual dip there... However, one shouldn't expect this 3,800-square-foot haven to turn into a local leisure centre on a Saturday afternoon, because according to Perez Hilton, while the store is now officially open you may find it tricky to locate thanks to an incredibly understated bit of signage work. 'You'll still have to walk through white double doors and a narrow courtyard before you actually see the store itself,' he explains. Added to that, the sisters are also keeping the announcement low-key with no arrangements for a swanky launch event in the offing.

'We’ve always wanted our own store; it’s always been part of the plan. It was a toss-up between New York and L.A., and when this space became available, we jumped on it,' explains Mary Kate to WWD. Ashley adds: 'What’s more important to talk about is that every step is really imperative to the brand and we don’t like to do everything at once. We’ll get into e-commerce sooner than later, but we want to make sure we do this right first. We will get into shoes in the next year. And hopefully men’s. To us it’s really about a lifestyle, and I think this store is a great starting-off point to express where we are going.'

Until our houses, children, cats and men can be head-to-toe in the row, we imagine the dream buys we'd make a beeline for in store now....

We'll take one of each please...
