Lena Dunham Wears Just One Outfit For Her i-D Shoot: An ASOS Blouse & Carven Skirt

20 November 2012

It’s been a pretty amazing year for writer/director/actress/producer/Grazia’s girl crush of 2012, Lena Dunham. Her brilliant HBO show, Girls has achieved cult status on both sides of the Atlantic. And now she’s cemented her coolness (and further fueled our lust) by posing for her first fashion magazine cover.

Along with Vogue legend, Grace Coddington, Lena is one of six i-D magazine cover stars to reflect on their 2012 –and share words of wisdom – as part of the Wise Up issue, out on 22nd November.

Inside the issue Lena discusses ‘her rapid rise to fame and why she votes herself ‘not hot’ on fashion blogs’. Well, we think the styling is spot-on here. In true Lena style she looks effortlessly cool in a relaxed ASOS blouse and skirt by Carven - and nothing else for the entire shoot.

It’s crazy to think that Lena was relatively unknown just twelve months ago having written and directed just one independent film before getting the green light for Girls from HBO. And while she’s now notched up three Emmy award nominations, 2012 hasn’t been without its challenges.

Lena’s previously spoken about the criticism that comes with becoming famous at 26. ‘People are ultimately threatened by young people taking positions of power’, she said in a recent interview. ‘But there’s also this feeling of I could do that too. People don’t feel rabidly jealous of Larry David or Salman Rushdie because they don’t think, I could do that. And with what I’ve done, I think a lot of people think, I could do that in my sleep. If I’d just have met one person along that path, I would have done that TV show.’ Wise words indeed.

2013 is already looking busy for Lena with the release of her first book, Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned. i-D magazine’s Wise Up issue is out on 22nd November, i-donline.com
