Laura Bailey & Sheherazade Goldsmith Collaborate On New Jewellery Line Loquet

While we may be bang smack in the middle of summer we've already spotted a front runner for our Christmas gift list in the shape of brand new jewellery brand Loquet's (pronounced simply 'locket') gorgeous necklaces.

Sheherazade Goldsmith & Laura Bailey Model Their Lockets

Conceived by two of Britain's most stylish beauties Laura Bailey and Sheherazade Goldsmith, the bespoke lockets are a modern take on a charm bracelet. Each locket - either heart-shaped or circular is made of clear crystal and hinges open to allow you to load up your very own charms. From numbers and letters, birthstones, moons and stars, you can personally curate your own locket to reflect your own life.

For example Laura has loaded up her round locket with her children’s birthstones and an interlocked double heart, a tiny gold envelope to symbolise love letters, and a key for secrets. Sheherazade's locket includes her kids’ initials, UTJ, her aquamarine birthstone, a diamond kiss and hug for love and a gold shooting star. “We wanted to use jewellery to tell stories and offer friends and families the chance to communicate with each other,” Bailey recounts.

So how did the pair come up with the concept? "My little boy bought me a clear plastic heart necklace from a funfair for Christmas one year," explains Goldsmith, "and I wore it all the time. I then started thinking how amazing it would be if you could put things inside the heart. Two days later I met with Laura for dinner and Loquet was born."

Then came a worldwide search to find the finest materials and highest quality fixings to give the lockets a luxe edge. "The lockets are really luxurious and we have thought about everything from making the back of the locket flat so it sits comfortably on your chest to the bevelled edges of the clasp. But we didn't want them to be too precious- in that these lockets are for everyday jewellery. I've swam and maybe even gone scuba diving wearing mine," laughs Bailey.

To further pique our interest, the duo have also come up with a beautiful, interactive website which allows you to load up your own locket virtually, then share it on Pinterest.
