Lady Gaga gave her monsters a New Year's treat this week as she posted a new picture from her Spring Summer 2014 Versace campaign. In the new image Lady Gaga is still channeling Donatella, as she is topless with her platinum extensions strategically covering her chest. With gold stacked chain necklaces and a lion detail belt the new face is classic old Versace.

The rumours have been flying for months, but finally conclusive proof is here: Lady Gaga is indeed the new face of Versace. The luxury brand took to Instagram (naturallement) to reveal the campaign images for Spring Summer 2014 which see the singer looking very Donatella-esque with sweeping long platinum blonde hair, a golden tan and perfectly peachy pout. Gaga also sports barely-there brows and nude talon-tastic nails in the images shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott while her slender body showcases Versace's super-sexy designs. Talk aout the ultimate homage to the legendary designer, eh?

This is the first time Gaga has ever starred in fashion advertising and it's little wonder that Versace is the brand to snap her up. 'I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign,' says Donatella. 'I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA.' Meanwhile, the songstress took to Facebook and Twitter to say, 'I'm so happy to be working with Official Versace for the new Campaign!' along with the hashtags #Donatella and #famiglia. N'aww!
Of course, it was only a matter of time before Versace's number one fan got her own campaign and the images are just the latest stage in her fashion friendship with Donatella. As Versace explain, it began with Gaga wearing archive Versace pieces in her video for Edge of Glory and ever since, she's put in the effort to earn a place in the Versace fold, from writing a love song for Donatella to bringing THAT iconic safety pin dress back to the spotlight. Here are just 5 steps of how she became part of the 'famiglia'...
1. She dressed as Donatella
On a trip to Rome, Gagaloo morphed into Donatella Versace, wearing a bondage dress, a long white blonde wig and black-out shades. Donatella and Donatella-d Gaga leaning over the Palazzo balcony in Milan was a simply fabulous fashion moment.
2. She's been given the keys to the archive
After raiding the archives, Gaga was given permission to wear possibly the most iconic Versace garment ever - that Elizabeth Hurley safety pin dress. The black gown is forever etched on our memory thanks to one night in 1994 when Lady Hurley wore it to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral on the arm of a floppy-haired Hugh Grant. What an honour to be allowed to crack it out again after all these years and the singer did it was characteristic aplomb.
3. Gaga wrote Donatella a song called, you guessed it, Donatella
Remember when Gaga wrote an ode to the platinum blonde Italian and her ability to "walk the walk, no matter what"? Gaga said of the song: “‘Donatella‘ is my love letter to Donatella. The song is an incredible crazy fun pop song with really raising electronic beats that I did with [producer] Zedd. It’s about being a fearless female and not caring what people say about you – being proud of who you are and walking the walk no matter what.” And Donatella's verdict? "I would like to thank Gaga for her geniality, creativity, incredible talent and super bitchiness. I am honored to be her friend and of course I love the song!" Of course.
4. Gaga brings Versace to 'a new generation'

Stepping out all over town in the brand's fancy wears, Gaga is already the perfect ambassador for showcasing the Versace va-va-voom to young fashion bunnies obsessed with ASOS - and Donatella clearly agrees. 'She was determined, she already knew what she wanted: to go straight to the heart of the maison and show those clothes to a new generation, to all her fashion-lover fans,' said the designer. 'I’m sure that, if Gianni were still alive, he would have been a huge fan of hers.' Welcome to the Versace family, LG!
5. Gaga's tour wardrobe was packed with custom Versace
As a Versace super fan, Gaga got her paws on lots of gold medallion and leather creations for the Born This Way Ball tour. Yes, the house treated the star to hoards of bespoke Versace and Atelier Versace pieces for her stage gear, including leather studded boots, an architectural leather dress worn with a Statue of Liberty crown and a Versace print robe. We wouldn't expect anything less.
So bravo to you Gagaloo! May the love-in continue. In the meantime, check out some of Gaga's greatest style hits in the gallery below...
