It was only a matter of time until Versace's number one fan got her own campaign - of course we're talking about Lady Gaga. WWD report that the mother monster will appear in Versace's Spring ad campaign, which they believe was shot by legendary Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in London. No word on whether she is wearing a Donatella wig for the campaign. Looks like her love song to Donatella paid off then!
Here are some of the ways Gaga has earned her place in the Versace fold...
1. She's dressed as Donatella
On a trip to Roma Lady Gaga morphed into Donatella Versace, wearing a bondage dress, a long white blonde wig and black-out shades. Donatella and Donatella-d Gaga Leaning over the Palazzo balcony in Milan was simply fab-ul-ous.
2. She's been given the keys to the archive
In Italy the Gaga wore the most iconic Versace garment ever - the Elizabeth Hurley safety pin LBD. This black gown is forever etched on our memory - it even has its own Wiki page! And that's pretty impressive considering it was way back in 1994 that Lady Hurley first debuted the Versace dress at the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral on the arm of one floppy-haired Hugh Grant.
3. Gaga wrote Donatella a song called, you guessed it, Donatella
Gaga wrote an ode to the platinum blonde Italian and her ability to "walk the walk, no matter what." Gaga said of her tribute: “‘Donatella‘ is my love letter to Donatella [Versace]. The song is an incredible crazy fun pop song with really raising electronic beats that I did with [producer] Zedd. It’s about being a fearless female and not caring what people say about you – being proud of who you are and walking the walk no matter what.”
Donatella wrote to gossip site Just Jared to return the love ;I would like to thank Gaga for her geniality, creativity, incredible talent and super bitchiness. I am honored to be her friend and of course I love the song!'
4. Gaga brings Versace to 'a new generation'

Donatella wrote about Gaga raiding the archives: 'She was determined, she already knew what she wanted: to go straight to the heart of the maison and show those clothes to a new generation, to all her fashion-lover fans. I’m sure that, if Gianni were still alive, he would have been a huge fan of hers.' She also added: 'I’m very proud to say that Lady Gaga is a friend of mine,' and 'I'm very happy she is part of the Versace family.'
5. Gaga wore lots of custom Versace on Born This Way Ball tour
As a Versace super fan Gaga gets her paws on lots of gold medallion and leather creations. The house gave Gagaloo lots of bespoke Versace and Atelier Versace pieces to wear on tour, including leather studded boots, an architectural leather dress worn with a Statue of Liberty crown (natch) and a Versace print robe.
