Word on the street is that Kristen Stewart is hitting the books, as it is reported that she has enrolled at the University of California to study English Literature. There hasn't been a yay or nay from Kristen's camp just yet, but it is said that she will take a distance-learning course. Well UCLA is the place to go as it ranks 4th in the US colleges and has a well-respected English literature programme.
A source revealed to The Mirror: 'Yes, Kristen’s a Tinseltown actress worth millions but she is already considering a life after film. She never got to complete college and she wants to get a proper education. She is a voracious reader and cannot wait to get going on her correspondence course. It won’t be easy and it will mean putting in some fairly strenuous hours. But once she’s graduated, Kristen will be able to do almost anything she wants, in or out of Hollywood.'
Well she already has the student uniform, sticking to tees, converses, hoodies and ripped denim. Plus we reckon she is happier skulking in a library than on the red carpet. Kristen might have an encyclopedic knowledge of Twilight and done a sultry reading of Fifty Shades of Grey (watch below), but she is also into more serious literaure. She was hugely passionate about her film On The Road, as told journalists over and over again that she devoured the American classic as a teenager.
Kristen isn't the first star to ditch the bright lights for the books, as Karlie Kloss wants to go to Harvard, Emma Watson studied at Brown and Oxford University and model Lily Cole got a double first from Cambridge in History of Art. Natalie Portman also became the first Oscar winning actress to graduate from Harvard.
But taking a break from filming to study is nothing new, as back in 1998 Claire Danes headed to Yale with her letter of recommendation written by the director Oliver Stone. But watch out K-Stew, Hollywood does have a rather high drop out rate - remember when Mary Kate and Ashley enrolled in NYU claiming they wanted as normal a collage experience as possible? But they had clothes to design and their multi-million pound company to run so both left. Hmm not quite a normal college experience.
