Kristen Stewart Continues To Front Balenciaga Despite Nicolas Ghesquiere’s Departure

04 May 2013 by

Ever since designer Nicolas Ghesquiere stepped down from his role as Creative Director at Balenciaga, there's been plenty of speculation that his close friend Kristen Stewart would follow him and end her role as face of the label's Florabotanica fragrance. The flames of these rumours were fanned all the more by the fact that Ghesquiere’s replacement, Alexander Wang has close ties with Liberty Ross aka the estranged wife of Rupert Sanders, the man who Stewart was revealed to be having an affair with last year.

Whatever the truth may be, Stewart has gone on record to say that she would “run away” with Ghesquiere. Pledging her support for the designer in 032c (a Berlin based biannual magazine) last month, Stewart recounts Ghesquiere’s departure, “[When he told me he was leaving Balenciaga] I was like, ‘Dude, are you okay?’ and he was like (in a French accent), ‘Yes. Yes. I will tell you soon, but there are things happening.’ Before I left, he was like, ‘All right, I’ll tell you.’ I’m so f***ing proud of him because what he was about to do would rock people’s worlds. He was just like, ‘Believe for me.’ I thought it was the coolest f***ing thing.”

She also told the magazine that she had said to Ghesquiere, “I will totally run away with you.”

However, it has now been confirmed that Stewart will indeed be staying with the brand, meaning we could potentially be seeing Stewart wearing Wang’s debut collection for the brand on the red carpet any time soon. Watch this space!
