So beanies are hot right now, Cara Delevingne, well, she’s sorta hot right now and knitting – well we’re not sure that’s quite caught on (although many circles of hipsters are really into their chunky needles), but in this current climate we are all about knitwear. And the Giles Autumn Winter 2014 show at London Fashion Week on Monday was too (but only the headwear variety).
Cara Delevignge at the Giles AW14 show [Wool and the Gang]
Woolen-wares label Wool and the Gang designed cartoon beanies especially for the show, one of which was planted delicately on every front row seat at the Old Truman Brewery space near Brick Lane. Along with this exclusive hat in shades of bright blue, orange and grey were a pair of enormous knitting needles and fabulously thick wool. FROW-ers and models backstage alike were seen knitting their own garments – a sure fire way to ensure your bloggable beanie is not about to be papped on the next fashionista that walks in the room. Inspired!
In hers (the cool grey one), Cara stalked the catwalk (alongside Kendall Jenner and best bud Jourdan Dunn) and took the very first insta-video live from the runway (we may or may not have spent a long time trying to see our own faces in the background). It was a tad popular (218k likes??!!).
The knitters at Wool and the Gang are working round the clock to keep up with the inevitable Cara-inflected demand and for £60, you too can keep these expert beanie makers out of bed an hour longer by ordering one of their Eek hats. Alternatively, save their sleep, order the ingredients and knit your own. Goggley eyes are not obligatory - and certainly if you're not very good at following instructions.
