It's the year of the ‘celebaby’ and the latest star to bring a mini-me into the world is Kim Kardashian. Although she didn't tweet through the labour, Kanye’s babymama did give birth naturally to her first child yesterday and the world is postively reeling. So what better time than now to look back at Kim's maternity style hits.
Unsurprisingly, her every ensemble was ogled since day bump so did she tone down her curve-a-licious outfits? Did she heck! Kim never let her due date interfere with her personal style or her love of body-con frocks and diva swag. Instead, she worked pregna-chic by merely adapting her wardrobe signatures to fit her changing shape and defied her critics by continuing to embrace head-to-toe high fashion.
In sharp tailoring, Lanvin dresses and Alaia leggings, Kim certainly spurned traditional maternity wear. She worked a Givenchy tuxedo at the brand’s catwalk show, a white Mugler trouser and folded coat combo at the airport, vertiginous heels by Louboutin and several pairs of JBrand maternity jeans which she said are 'a blessing because they make me feel slim and comfortable.'

She enlisted the help of some seriously stylish men to amp up her maternity wardrobe too. First up, of course, was her stylist boyfriend Kanye West who famously cleared out his lady’s closet. The rapper-turned-designer's penchant for structured designs and monochromatic colour palettes influenced the mom-to-be in her pregnancy fashion choices.
Also on Kim’s fashion team is legendary stylist Nicola Formichetti. Known for creating Lady Gaga’s outré style – we’re talking that meat dress, people - Formichetti may not have been the most likely choice for giving bump tips, but he certainly had a great influence on our Kimmy.
But the ensemble which caused the biggest stir came courtesy of Riccardo Tisci. Kim joined Kanye at the swanky Met Ball in May kitted out in Givenchy florals. The Twittersphere compared her to everything from lounge furniture to Mrs Doubtfire but Mr Tisci was quick to defend her look.
'I have dressed many pregnant women in the past,' he said. 'To me, pregnancy is the most beautiful thing in the world, and when you celebrate something, you give people flowers. I think she looked amazing. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career.'
