Boycotts and copy-cats, behind-the-scenes videos and whoda-thought-it facts have emerged since THAT Kimye for US Vogue issue landed last month - and it sounds like the buzz has paid off. In fact, it's been reported that Kim Kardashian is on track to sell a record number of copies, justifying Anna Wintour's decision to feature the reality star and her fiancé Kanye in the fashion bible.
'The projections are that Kim and Kanye will likely sell almost 500,000 copies,' a source told RadarOnline.com. The figures are yet to be confirmed, but it's thought Kim's cover could outsell previous issues featuring Beyoncé and America's First Lady Michelle Obama which sold 355,39 and 293,798 copies respectively.
Kim's highly coveted cover didn't come without controversy and Anna Wintour was forced to defend her decision to feature the couple. 'As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue's cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn't true.' And who are we to argue with Wintour?
21 March 2014: Mission Accomplished! Kimye Land The Cover Of US Vogue
We've seen Kim Kardashian go through a total transformation before our very eyes. Having weathered the backlash against her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries and faced down the critics of her sex tape, Kim has ditched the reality star uniform of bling, bandage dresses and stripper heels to become the fashion industry’s darling. And what more proof do you need than bagging the cover of US Vogue?
Yes, Kimmy K has efficiently and effectively sought to conquer planet fashion - and she's only gone and done it! Alongside Kanye West, Kim is the star of the latest issue of American Vogue, cementing her fashion ascendancy.
Ever the perfect pair, Kimye are looking tres chic (and loved-up) in complementing monochrome; he's in a black suit while she's kitted out in a wedding-worthy ivory gown - does this mean The Wedding is imminent?! That ginormous engagement sparkler is on show, her hair is pulled back into a low bun while her eye makeup looks smokier than ever.
The US Vogue appearance has been a long time coming with rumours swirling for yonks that Anna Wintour was considering a Kimye cover. It was just last month that the star ditched her blonde locks, sparking reports that the new look was especially for the top-secret shoot.

The couple have certainly done all they can to secure style stardom, from hitting the front row at Couture Week to trussing up baby North West in designer garb. Kim's wardrobe also got an update and was crammed with high-fashion brands from Lanvin to Tom Ford.
Then came the Met Ball in May 2013. Kim wore a Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy high neck, ankle sweeping gown with matching opera gloves [above], which became one of the year's most iconic red carpet moments. The appearance also marked the beginning of a thaw in attitude from the fashion establishment - previously there had been reports that Anna Wintour was set to ban the reality star from the event. What a turnaround!
Now, #theworldsmostfamouscouple (the tag line on the US Vogue cover) is trending on Twitter and Kim has taken to her own account to share her joy. 'This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can't even breath!' she tweeted.
From where we’re standing, it looks like she can call that mission accomplished.
