You might have noticed that here at Grazia Daily we have a little obsession with royal fashion - we would go so far as to say that we know Kate Middleton's wardrobe down to the last pearl earring. So we were rather excited when we heard the news that this summer Kensington Palace will host a royal-tastic summer exhibition 'Fashion Rules: Dress From the Collections of HM The Queen, Princess Margaret, and Diana, Princess of Wales.'
The curator of the exhibition Cassie Davies-Stodder said the show, which opens on the 4th July, will allow you 'to get up close to these wonderful dresses and be transported to the times in which they were worn. Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales all have a special connection with Kensington Palace, making it the perfect location to celebrate theses modern royal women in their fashion heyday.' Sounds pretty fabulous to us.
Which iconic royal outfits would you like to see on display?
So which dresses will be on display? We've not been given any clues from the palace yet, except that the organisers have said it will be a 'new take' on the story of the monarchy in the late 20th Century. Hmm, does this mean that the Queen's 'Bond girl' outfit she wore to the London Olympics will be on display? Here's hoping.
As for Diana's outfits we'd like to see that figure-hugging Versace dress, ALL her black beaded floor-sweepers and the blue velvet gown she wore when she danced with John Travolta. Perhaps they will display the Catherine Walker sequined pink gown she wore on a visit to Brazil or the black velvet Catherine Walker gown she wore on a Vanity Fair photoshoot shot by Mario Testino at Kensington Palace.
We're guessing Kensington Palace will be one very happy place come July, as not only will they be showcasing the greatest royal fashion moments from the last century, but the royal baby is also due in July. So you never know, you could see Diana's iconic couture AND Kate Middleton on a stroll with her pram in the gardens at Kensington Palace all on the same day.
