Less is certainly not more when it comes to the stage wardrobe of Katy Perry. So when we the famously outlandish dresser announced her 2014 Prism tour, the happy memories of previous stage outfits came flooding back to us. Remember the blue wigs? The pom poms, the ice-cream hats, the shimmering sequins and the great plumes of feathers? Marvellous pantomime frocks, complete with garish pink bows and headpieces were always a highlight and who could forget the heavily sequinned bodices which made her breasts pride of place? Ah yes. Is it easy to pull them off? No. But Katy says that her mantra is: ‘You wear the look, don’t let the look wear you.’
So what can we expect this time round? Well, Katy has admitted that she's less about dressing about a cartoon character these days. Indeed, the singer’s stylist, Johnny Wujek, offered an insight into what's in store from the Prism tour. ‘Forget about the candy and all that stuff and take it to the next level. She’s grown up,’ he says.
For now we say goodbye to 2008’s phenomenal multi-coloured carousel dress (complete with flags) and the cupcake-tiered tutus that were so fabulously kitch and quintessentially Katy, and say hello to a whole tour'drobe. And yet, we'd like to take one last look at her most bonkers of outfits, just for old times sake. Do join us...
