Kate Upton has had a meteoric fashion rise and is now a regular on the newstands, as she has been on the cover of Vanity Fair, US Vogue, Italian Vogue - oh and she is on this week's Grazia cover girl. She's had the nod from Anna Wintour and made fashion history ruffling her feathers in Marc Jacobs' final show at Louis Vuitton, but her new gig places her firmly in the supermodel league.
We're not talking about a new campaign with a powerful fashion house. Nope, Kate is starring in an advert for the cheesy sandwiches, Hot Pockets, with Snoop Dogg. In the film Kate watches Snoop debating meat or crust on Larry King (this is the first of many what the?! moments), and then enters a cheesy dream world with 'the master baker who made Hot Pockets come true,' Snoop Dogg. In this bonkers dream sequence Kate, who is dressed as a showgirl, is sat at a baby grand singing about 'hot buttery crust' and there is a battle between #TeamCrust and #TeamMeat. As you'd expect there are lots of shots of her licking her cheesy fingers.
Snoop has provided the soundtrack 'You Got What I Eat' which includes lines such as 'tastes so good gotta lick the licks,' 'you say you're just a baker, but you're my Hot Pockets baker' and 'you got the steak and cheese that brings me to my knees.' The re-working of Biz Markie's single 'Just a Friend (You Got What I Need)' is dangerously catchy, don't say we haven't warned you. If you weren't confused enough, there are also cameos from Bow Wow and Larry King, who is wearing a gold 'cheese medallion' chain and sparkly shades. WOW.
It might be totally bonkers, but starring in a naff TV commercial is a supermodel right of passage. Remember Kate Moss putting the kettle on for Virgin Mobile? Heidi Klum tucking into a juicy burger? Miranda Kerr even dressed in Lipton lemon and sang in Japanese in her drinks ad. See how Kate Upton's Hot Pockets ad compares to other supermodel TV commercials below...
