Kate Upton Not 'Furious' Just Disappointed At Victoria's Secret For Using Her Old Image

Reports emerged earlier this week that Kate Upton was "furious" with lingerie brand Victoria's Secret for using her image in their latest catalogue – on the back page as well! The photo in question of Upton wearing a Body by Victoria black bra was unveiled last weekend but taken back in 2011, since which time the star has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the blonde bombshell ranks, appearing on the covers of Vogue and Sports Illustrated and being named number 8 in this year’s FHM Sexiest Women in the World list.

Despite the story of Kate's reaction trending on twitter it turns out the situation just left a "bad taste in her mouth". A source close to the model told WWD that the quote, which appeared in the media, was wrong and "She’s not furious. She’s just not thrilled about it, and the reason is she’s not contracted to work with Victoria’s Secret". It wouldn't be that much of a shock if Kate did see red following the catalogue's release, as last year Stylist Sophie Neophitou, who casts the Victoria's Secret fashion show, publicly remarked that Kate was "too obvious" a choice to appear on the VS catwalk, therefore taking her out of the running as a contender for the Fantasy Bra.

Neophitou told the New York Times: "We would never use [Upton]. She's like a Page 3 girl. She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blonde hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."

With continuing rumours that Miranda Kerr is preparing to hang up her wings for pastures new, could this catalogue debacle be a sign that Kate is set to join the Angel fold? A spokesperson says no: “As of right now, it’s untrue. She has no plans to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel", but we wouldn't be surprised if Upton was promoted from back of the catalogue to front of the runway at the brand’s next lingerie spectacular.
