London is under an American invasion today.
J Crew’s first UK store opens to the public today on Regent Street (which you’ll know we celebrated by inviting Creative Director Jenna Lyons to be our guest fashion editor on this week’s issue), whilst Kate Spade New York has opened their first concession via a pop-up in London’s iconically British Selfridges department store. Like kids in a sweet shop we rifled through the confections on offer this morning!
Reminding us of the talent for accessories that launched the entire brand, the retailer’s Chief Creative Officer and President Deborah Lloyd focused the pop-up on their perfectly Park Avenue-appropriate range of jewellery, handbags, stationary and techy accessories. Littered with big apples, skyscrapers and tiny yellow taxis, their exclusive pieces are a dip into Manhattanite luxury, whilst some seriously classic arm (and cross-body) candy offset the quirky prints and illustrations (their new Beau bag has already sold out in the UK so Selfridges is the only place to get it now – whilst you still can!).
Kate Spade New York
The mini metropolis that stands beyond the Duke Street entrance of Selfridges is a haven for Christmas gift sourcing - perfect presents for the girl who is, as Deborah Lloyd described to Grazia, ‘smart, quick, playful and new’.
Aside from their new hot spot in Selfridges (for a limited time only, of course) KSNY has 3 other standalone stores in Covent Garden, Sloane Square and Westfield that hold their marvellous accessories as well as their Ready-to-Wear line. And if you can’t make it to Selfridges before January, head to the Covent Garden store for Happy Thursdays: last month saw Book Club month with Liberty London Girl and live illustrations by Bryony Fripp. November the All That Glitters month is where it’s at though with free manicures in store to match their glittering gift wall – EVERY other Thursday (next one is 21st Nov).
