Attention one and all Kate Moss is up for auction (well, kind of) as she is the subject of an upcoming sale at Christie's. The collection curated by Gert Elfering features everything from an 18ct gold sculpture of Kate as a naked angel by Nick Knight to a Jacquard tapestry by Chuck Close. Also up for grabs are iconic Kate photographs by fashion greats such as Juergen Teller, Mario Testino and Annie Liebovitz.
Looking to line your walls with some Moss art? Well if you have a spare £30,000 or so lying around you could invest in Kate Moss (bronze glitter) by Allen Jones which features the super in a shimmery metallic bodysuit, with some pointy boob action. Also up for grabs for an estimated £100,000-150,000 is Chris Levine's hologram, 'She's Light,' which was recently on display in the window at Selfridges.
There's also photographs of Kate doing a Bowie in 'Aladdin Sane' by Nick Knight, topless Kate blowing bubbles by Bruce Webber and Mossy in fishnets, black panties and a 'God Save The Queen' parka by Craig McDean. The full collection which pays tribute to 'the living icon' is expected to sell for a cool £1 million. Gulp.
The curater Gert Elfering said of his tribute to Kate Moss: 'As I saw the collection taking shape, I was delighted by the variety and the consistent power of the works, and I have already enjoyed seeing the positive reaction in the faces of others when they first see them. Kate is the ultimate modern muse and we will be seeing her images in major museums and private collections for years to come.' Cheers to that.
Is it just us, or is Kate Moss everywhere at the moment?! From Versace campaigns to the fields of Somerset to Carephone Warehouse ads - we are in the middle of a Mossy Moment. Not that we're complaining!
We'll have to wait until the auction on 25 September 2013 to find out exactly how much La Moss is worth. For now, why not go virtual window shopping by checking out the Moss art up for sale in the gallery above?
