Kate Moss Admits She Was Intimidated By Working With The Original Supermodels

25 August 2013 by

Wow, wow, wow – Interview magazine have pulled out all the stops and got together more than 70 models to talk about the industry, including the original supermodels who Mert & Marcus have shot for the cover. The issue doesn’t hit the shelves until 3 September but from the few people who’ve seen Interview already (luuucky!) we’ve already learnt some gems including:

Kate Moss was intimidated by Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington when she first started out.

‘Yeah,’ she admitted, ‘but they were very nice and I was quite street-wise. I still knew things. I even knew about some things they didn’t.’

Amber Valetta believes she wouldn’t have made it without cutting off all her hair..

‘Nobody had short hair at the time,’ she says. ‘The waif thing hadn’t even started. I had two guys cutting my hair at the same time and then literally overnight everything changed.’

Linda Evangelista had a dodgy start in the industry.

‘I took a modeling course in my hometown of St Catherines, Ontario, Canada. It was sort of a scam. I was chosen at 16 by a Japanese agency to go over to Japan for the summer to work. I got there, it was a catastrophe. They wanted me to take my clothes off and shoot me naked.’

Daria Werbowy still gets insecure. (Bless!)

‘Sometimes I am stil surprised I am a model and that people think I am good-looking. I’ve tortured myself about it.’

Stephanie Seymour also has body-hang-ups.

‘I always had difficulty as a model just being myself,’ she said. ‘I can be very shy and I used to have a lot of anxiety about working on a set.'

See? They might be models but they're Just. Like. Us. (Maybe...)
