It's been an exciting week in the world of Kate Middleton. First she caused a furore when she stepped out on Tuesday night sporting a brand new half-fringe (GASP!) and rewearing that gorgeous green dress by Mulberry. The following day, she wowed the world by taming her new Farrah Fawcett do for an outing in Cambridge. And at the British Fashion Awards, she had everyone from Salma Hayek to Manolo Blanhik singing her praises. So how better to top off the week than with head-to-toe tartan for a visit to her old school?
Yep, Kate is spending the day at her old preparatory school St Andrew’s Day in Berkshire for a fitting celebration of St Andrew’s Day. And ever the appropriate dresser, the Duchess is wearing her school uniform the navy and green tartan of Scotland’s 3rd Battalion Regiment. Featuring long-sleeves, a high-neck and a flared knee-length skirt, the ensemble comes courtesy of Alexander McQueen (naturallment) and is, in fact, from the Brit brand's sister line, McQ.
Although the exact piece is not available, McQ's Black Watch plaid coat from the Autumn Winter 2012 collection is available for £4210 from www.net-a-porter.com and their Black Watch Origami mini dress is still available for £610 at www.alexandermcqueen.co.uk.
The tailored design is super-flattering on our K-Midd. On the accessories front, she's kept cosy in her Aquatalia Rhumba boots over black tights and added a simple black clutch. And would you look at those gorgeously tumbling curls? The brand new side-swept hair is really coming into its own.
