Have you heard the happy news? This evening, the world got a first glimpse at Baby Cambridge. He's the son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge but not only that, this little tot is set to be the future King of England *curtsies*
Emerging on the steps outside St Margaret's hospital today, this was a monumental occasion for Kate and Wills, not to mention the British public. The couple had been inside the Lindo Wing ever since the arrival of their son yesterday afternoon and although both sets of grandparents - the Middletons as well as Prince Charles and Camilla - had stopped by for a visit, there had been no sign of the new parents or indeed their first born.
So you can imagine the cheers of delight when they finally appeared after much anticipation and are-they-aren't-they-ing. You can read our full report here but now it's time to discuss Kate's attire. The yummy mummy looked as delightful as ever wearing a bespoke cornflower blue crêpe de chine dress by Jenny Packham. After a visit from her hairdresser earlier in the day, her locks were typically glossy while her skin was simply glowing.
As you know, the Duchess is a huge fan of Jenny Packham so it's little wonder she turned to the British-born designer once again. Kate has worn the super-feminine creations on many occasion, from arriving at Calgary airport in a flirty yellow frock to attending the polo in a floral-printed number. And who can blame her when the dresses are so perfect for nailing that understated elegance Kate's become known for.
But it's when she wants to pack a red carpet punch that Packham has served her best. Lest we forget the emerald green stunner she chose for the 'Our Greatest Team Rises' concert last May featuring a lace bodice embellished with Swarovski crystals [above left]. And you'll remember she hosted a charity dinner at St James’s Palace last November in a silver one-shoulder gown accented by a velvet ribbon previously seen on none other than Angelina Jolie. But perhaps our favourite Middy moment EVER was when she stepped out in a bedazzling pearlescent dress at the ARK Gala [above right]. Oh, how we swooned!
As for Kate's maternity style, it’s pretty hard to knock her endlessly elegant wardrobe. Stepping out in a faultless selection of designer coats and dresses during her pregnancy, she made bump-dressing look so easy. But, of course, there would have been hours of planning behind each of her outfits, with designers creating bespoke pieces for her new silhouette and accessories matched perfectly to her spring-appropriate looks. Indeed, her JP dress tonight was custom-made for the occasion.
