The Duchess of Cambridge has become the queen of literal dressing, often taking a wardrobe cue from the event she's attending, so no prizes for what she's wearing at the St Patrick's Day Parade: a whole lot of green!
Yes, Kate is dressed head to toe in the traditional Irish hue, but while we've seen her wearing that Emilia Wickstead coat at the annual event two years running, today she's pushed the boat out and is wrapped up in a cover-up from Hobbs.

This is a never-before-seen ensemble from K-Middy consisting of a pine green Persephone Trench from the high-street hero. For all you copy Kates, we recommend snapping it up sharpish - it's been reduced from £279, down to £195 (yep, the Discount Duchess strikes again).
The 32-year-old has polished off the look with an emerald 'Meribel' hat by Gina Foster, which we first saw on Christmas day, plus a dainty clutch, gold Cartier shamrock brooch and green amethyst earrings by Kiki McDonough. She's even extended the matchy-ness right down to a pair of green heels.
As for Kate's husband, Prince William is trussed up in his traditional military uniform for the event in Aldershot, Hampshire. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are honoured guests for the Irish Guards' St Patrick's Day Parade with William attending as colonel of the regiment and Kate handing out sprigs of shamrock and err, patting the regimental mascot, an Irish Wolfhound.

In recent years, Kate has become a pro at political correctness, cannily using her wardrobe to pay respect. A cowboy hat for the rodeo? Check. A neckerchief for a trip with the Scouts? Yup. A dash of tartan for a visit to Scotland? You betcha. She follows in the footsteps of the Queen who is careful not to put a sartorial foot wrong with her diplomatic dressing.
And it's not just royalty. Who coud forget when Katy Perry wore a ballot frock at a rally for President Obama? Or when Lady Gaga rocked up to the launch of her Fame perfume dressed as, well, a perfume bottle? Although we can't imagine Kate going quite so far, she's certainly got dressing-by-numbers down to a fine art.
