There are plenty of 20-something actresses dipping their toes in the water of fashion design from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen who have a built two ultra-successful brands from scratch to Disney actresses-turned-high street collaborators Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. Meanwhile among the 30+ crowd there are a handful of ladies who have lent their creative eye and red-carpet know-how to the fashion industry.
Following in the footsteps of Katie Homes who showed her own Holmes & Yang label at New York Fashion Week last season, and Chloë Sevigny who designs for trendy boutique Opening Ceremony, Kate Hudson has just confirmed that she is working with Ann Taylor to create a capsule collection based on her personal style.
Kate, 33, has recently re-signed as the face of the brand for another season, but the range which she developed with creative director Lisa Axelson is her first foray into design. The pieces will be available in Ann Taylor stores from May while Kate's latest AT campaign, which was shot by Norman Jean Roy breaks early next month.
The mother-of-two revealed, “Working with Ann Taylor has been a great creative experience, and there is a really wonderful connection. Ann Taylor is great at creating iconic wardrobe staples and updating them season after season. I love that Lisa Axelson is designing clothes for real women.”
