Karlie Kloss is set to be the latest model student as she admitted to the Daily Front Row Berlin she is aiming for Harvard. Now before you start thinking 'whaaa models can read?', remember lots of models are very smart cookies. Lily Cole went to Cambridge, Christy Turlington went to NYU and Tyra Banks went to Harvard.
When asked if she still wants to go to Harvard Karlie said: 'I will fit it in. That is the great thing: I'm 20-years-old! I feel fortunate to have an incredible career and experiences behind me but there is so much more that I want to do with this career and with my life. Harvard at some point is in the plan, but all in good time.'
So what would she want to study? 'I'm interested in so many things. I'm not really sure what specific field I would want to focus on. I have always had an interest in medicine; my father is an emergency room doctor. Now that I am getting more and more involved in these entrepreneurial projects I think business is something that would also be fascinating. To have a better understanding of economics and business, and the way to run a successful company. Tyra did it. She went to Harvard business school. I can do it, too.' Uh oh watch out Harvard, if Tyra is her role model Karls will spend the whole four years smiling with her eyes at all her classmates.
Karlie won't be the first to ditch the bright lights to hit the books. Emma Watson studied at Brown and Oxford University and model Lily Cole got a double first from Cambridge in History of Art. It could be the Elle Woods effect, but Harvard is the favourite university for the stars. Natalie Portman became the first Oscar winning actress to graduate from the Ivy league school and Tyra Banks received a diploma from Harvard. She was a liiiiitle bit proud of this as she tweeted lots of pictures of her pouting in her Harvard hoody. In fact we're sure she still sleeps in her Harvard tees, possibly lying on Harvard bed sheets.
But taking a break from filming to study is hardly a new craze, as back in 1998 Claire Danes headed to Yale with her letter of recommendation written by the director Oliver Stone. Well that beats a note by your head of sixth form. She studied for two years but then dropped out to focus on the acting. Hollywood does have a rather high drop out rate - remember when Mary Kate and Ashley enrolled in NYU claiming they wanted as normal a collage experience as possible. But they had clothes to design and their multi-million pound company to run so both left the university. Hmm not quite a normal college experience then gals?
So fingers crossed Karlie will find her way to Harvard (without having to make an Elle Woods style video application) and will manage to stay there.
