Moda Operandi has brightened the end of our cloudy afternoon with a series of films featuring fashion’s finest including Anna dello Russo, Karlie Kloss and Poppy Delevingne all talking about fashion finds they failed to snap up. Lamenting their lost treasures, the stylish ladies were all filmed in the St Regis Hotel in Paris.
For the uninitiated, Moda Operandi is the game-changing e-commerce site that allows its luxury-loving consumers the chance to buy their favourite fashion picks directly from the catwalk. Providing niche, young designers much needed capital to put their wares into production and offering shoppers the chance to get their hands on sure-fire sell outs before they even make it into store, the MO model removes the middle man.
As well as time-limited online trunkshows, MO also has a permanent e-boutique stocking some of our favourite labels form J.W Anderson to Valentino. You might also recognise several of MO’s photogenic staff – from Taylor Tomasi Hill, the site’s Creative Director to Lauren Santo Domingo, the company’s founder, the MO’dettes are front row regulars.
So its little wonder that they've managed to persuade their friends and fellow fashion lovers to divulge their most wistful style memories. Each of the 'One That Got Away' films tell a different story of loss. For Leandra Medine, aka The Man Repeller, it was a Vika Gazinskaya dress which would have cost her entire rent. For Poppy Delevingne it was a navy star spangled dress from Chanel's Cruise 2012 show. Karlie Kloss still always dreams of a 90's Chanel mini skirt suit as worn by the supers, while Anna dello Russo says that she never misses out on a dress. "It doesn't happen to me," she explains, "I missed so many boyfriends but not outfits, darling." ADR also tells Giovanna Battaglia that she, "has to look expensive. I need a $50,000 [for] each outfit."
