The Private Life of a High-Flying Cat will be available in the UK from September
This is a big year for Karl Lagerfeld’s kitty Choupette. What with finishing her latest modelling campaign, shot (by Daddy Karl, of course) for the still-under-wraps make-up collection ‘Shupette' she’s inspired for Shu Uemura (think furry fake lashes – cute), and witnessing the first pregnant catwalk bride, she's also launching her very own book!
The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat will be released in the UK this September (just in time for fashion week), but we’re yet to see any further inside than the tres chic cover. Karl has re-employed authors Patrick Mauriès and Jean Christophe Napias to write these cat chronicles, less than a year after the launch of their previous book with the maestro - The World According To Karl - which oozes with Monsieur Lagerfeld’s ingenious insights on the world, fashion and himself.
A celebrity in her own right, 3-year-old Siamese Choupette has over 37,000 twitter followers and with her catty comments (see today’s example: ‘For the memo: kale is just hairy spinach. Stop trying to make it happen. #Trendy’), it was only a matter of time until her jet-set life and sheer fabulousness would be immortalised in hardback.
The world’s most famous cat has already starred in numerous fashion editorials and old Pops Karl is quite accustomed to taking her portrait, so it’s no surprise that the tome is heaving with his imagery. And naturally, Choupette stars alongside supermodels Linda Evangelista and Laetitia Casta - you know, the kind of crowd she hangs out with all day.
You may remember King Karl treated Grazia to an insight into a-week-in-the-life-of-Choupette and if those adorable snaps (see the gallery below) are anything to go by, it's going to be glorious. Get your pre-order at Thames & Hudson ready!
