Last night we joined London’s great and good for a celebration of all things Karl… Mr Lagerfeld that is. Fashion’s premier ponytailed purveyor of chic marked the opening of his debut eponymous store on Regent Street with a star-studded soiree. We were joined by royalty – Princess Beatrice was in attendance – and a gaggle of beautiful of talented women including the Haim sisters, Daisy Lowe and Pixie Lott.

Before King Karl arrived we thronged around a collection of Karl themed products, cool totes and rock ‘n’ roll ready to wear. The store, now the biggest in Europe and set across two floors was jam-packed with revelers desperate for the chance to pay homage to the man himself. To fill the time we sipped from glasses of Perrier Jouet and consumed far too many canapés.

As for Karl’s consumption, we intermittently spotted a frosted glass of Diet Coke emerging from behind the scenes, for the slimline designer. Karl famously doesn’t drink water, only DC and has also collaborated with the iconic carbonated drink brand to design his very own Diet Coke Bottle. However, we did not realize the extent to which Karl prizes his tipple. Last night we learnt that Karl actually gets his special DC glass transported from Paris and that a waiter is employed exclusively to tend to his signature drink. How chic.
