What a team: Keira and Karl
We admit to being rather baffled when news reached us that Pam Hogg may be designing Keira Knightley's wedding dress so the New York Post's recent update makes much more sense to our fashion ears. According to the report, Keira, who is due to wed James Righton this weekend, has turned to her designer pal Karl Lagerfeld for her Big Day - and who can blame her?
Keira has long been a Chanel ambassador after being named the face of Coco Mademoiselle so is well accustomed to glorious Chanel creations. At the world premiere of her latest movie Anna Karenina, the actress looked nothing short of breath-taking in a pink gown from Monsieur Lagerfeld’s Autumn Winter 2012 Couture collection and let's not forget when she arrived at the 2010 London Film Festival wearing a stunning cream knit number. The Brit has also spent a lot of time with Karl recently after filming the designer's latest short film, Once Upon A Time, for which she's playing Coco Chanel herself.
Keira hearts Chanel
What's more, Keira will allegedly marry her rocker beau in the South of France in a small, private ceremony near Nice so a Chanel dress would fit perfectly with the Frenchy theme. So what can we expect? We're picturing delicate sheer sleeves, floral appliqués cascading down the skirt or beaded details and a form-fitting silhouette. Either way, we're sure the result will be nothing short of sophisticated chic.
Lily, Drew & Alejandra wore Chanel wedding dresses
Of course, Karl is a pro at designing dresses not only for the catwalk but also for the wedding aisle. In June last year, Drew Barrymore tied the knot wearing a Chanel gown perfectly befitting her understated boho style - and also fitting her burgeoning baby bump. For Lily Allen's nupitals, the singer wore a vintage-inspired dress made of white chiffon with billowing sleeves and a layered lace skirt courtesy of the Kaiser. And rewind to 2008 when Alejandra de Borbon, daughter of King Juan Carlos of Spain’s cousin, married Bosco Ussia wearing a '30s style Chanel number with reams of pearls, a dainty cap and flowing veil.
What's more, Chanel's many catwalk shows have offered up more than a few frou-frou options. Take a look at the gallery below and let us know what you'd like to see Keira wearing on her Big Day...
