When Grazia Daily bumped into Juno Temple backstage at the Mulberry show this week, we couldn't help grabbing the adorable actress for a congratulatory air kiss. You'll remember the Brit-born actress beat off competition from Andrea Riseborough and Elizabeth Olsen to scoop the Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs so it's hardly surprising that she's caught the eye of Emma Hill, Mulberry's creative director, who invited her to be on the FROW at the London Fashion Week show.
Alexa Chung, Emma Hill, Lana Del Rey and Juno Temple backstage at Mulberry
So how did Juno celebrate her win? 'I was with my mum, my brother, my boyfriend and my agent who I've been with since I was 14 years old,' she told us. 'I didn’t go to bed until 7am and ordered spaghetti bolognese for breakfast, which was pretty awesome.' See, she's just like us! As for where she'll be showcasing her shiny award, Juno reveals she's planning on putting it on her mantelpiece in LA. 'I’ve a crystal orb, an antique kaleidoscope and a pair of amazing stripper shoes that were made for a movie I was in so my BAFTA will sit in between them.' How perfect!
The charmingly kooky star looked more fashion-y than ever as she posed alongside Alexa Chung and Lana Del Rey. Her bright red Mulberry suit certainly ensured she stood out, not least because a trouser suit is THE FROW uniform of the season. 'I’m not a huge fan of wearing clothes that wear you,' she said of her outfit. 'When you're wearing a trouser suit, less is more because it is such a statement.' Which is why she opted against wearing matching red lipstick, wise move. She did, however, accessorise with charms around her neck, made by her godmother, Scarlett King.
Juno Temple chats with Cara Delevingne backstage at Mulberry
As we chatted, a certain Cara Delevingne bounded over to Juno. The model of the moment, who had walked in the Mulberry show, threw her arms around the tiny actress. 'We went to [Hampshire boarding school] Bedales together,' Juno explains. So what's it like seeing her school chum becoming the hottest thing on the fashwan block? 'I’m so bloody proud of her. It’s hard because a lot of people that I grew with up are in the UK and I’ve moved my life across the pond. You miss people a lot but it’s the best thing when I come back to see them.' And Cara looked as pleased as punch to see her too, with the pair nattering away like a couple of kids - as you can see from our blurry shot above.
'She has this inner personality that she can’t keep in,' Juno says of Cara's killer charm. 'The best thing about a really great model is when you’re looking at pictures of them, you don't just see a model wearing clothes. It's about becoming a character and she's the queen of that.' Never a truer word.
