Victoria Beckham SS14 - Jason Lloyd Evans
Victoria Beckham’s collection for SS14 has taken a swing away from the usual glam and structured dress that she is so oft snapped in. The designer has offered up an altogether flirtier collection, with little pleats poking out under flicky skirts and shifts, with boyish t-shirts and jackets thrown over teamed with thick black headbands – we approve of the sporty diversion.
BUT we’re obsessed with these mules, specially made for the show by Manolo Blahnik in nude, black and white. These little leather hooves add a clumpy but cool edge to the light and summer looks, bringing them back down to earth.

Where we’d normally expect a strappy sandal, a sleek and sexy peep-toe boot or a vampish black gladiator, as has been spotted at her shows over the last few Spring Summers ago, VB has offered us a bit of a Man Repeller. Mrs Beckham has embraced the off-key trend that we have seen over the last few seasons, worn by the more rebellious sartorialists, typically snapped outside shows.
Is this embrace of the clunky shoe a sign for summers ahead? We've all seen the flatform and enough mannish shoes to last us a lifetime over the last few seasons but are the uber-glam about to do an about-turn and go ugly-chic too?
Victoria's outfit backstage is definitely loucher and more masculine than we're used to in this simple white shirt and black wide-leg trousers (even more so before the show, when our Fashion team spotted her backstage running around backstage with baby Harper, wearing jeans, a grey t-shirt and trainers) but the clue is on her still daintily court-shoed-feet... we will have to keep our eyes peeled to see if she too adopts the trend.
