Just when we thought H&M had quietened on the collaboration front, along comes what could potentially be the super-stores biggest coup yet: Isabel Marant. As we reported earlier today, the news that the French designer - who has honed a cult-followed metier of rock’n’roll bohemia – will be working on a lower-priced high street line caused an online hurricaine of excitement.
We’ve spent the day thinking about the dream combination of what this could potentially hold. From campaign stars to the must-have products we are crossing fingers, toes, legs, eyebrows, basically everything, for….
1. CAMPAIGN STARS
Kate Moss in Marant's A/W 2010 campaign
Gisele, Kate Moss, Freja Beha, Arizona Muse and that unknown newbie Kate Moss could star in the campaign. And we put money on either David Sims or Inez and Vinoodh shooting it in a hot location.
2. MUST-HAVE HITLIST
If we were to sit and count Isabel Marant must-haves we’d be here ALL day, but ideally this is what we’d like to see....
A peasant blouse – you’ll pull this out summer after summer and one of her ingeniously ruched flippy skirts (the kind that forgivingly expand after lunch).
Leather pants and/or some sort of fancy skinny jeans - No one does that ankle-grazing cut with a dash of embellishment quite like Madame Marant.
Hippy jewellery - It’s always tricky to tell price point apart when it comes down to feather earrings and the like, so this would be a sure-fire sell-out.
Sneaker wedges and/or any other killer boots – while we’ve almost passed the hyperventilation stage of this shoe-nomenon, there will no doubt still be fans a-plenty crossing fingers for a cut-price slice of this trainer style. They continue to sell out on the mainline, so it’ll be boot carnage.
Boho jacket – a little bit quilted, maybe a touch of embroidery, an unfussy collarless cut and perhaps a sprinkling of clinkety coins…. There’s bound to be a really decent trophy jacket in the mix.
3. CELEBRITY FAN CLUB POTENTIAL
H&M know exactly how to lure the A-list crowd in. Previous hook-ups have been celebrated via New York fashion shows, major parties in Paris and exclusive celebrity-led videos. Remember Versace’s catwalk? Anna Dello Russo’s cabaret? Or Maison Martin Margiela’s artsy exhibition/party?
K Bo is the obvious choice here – she’s always first to get her hands on Marant’s new season must-haves, but she’s currently tied up with Topshop on her festival collection. So… could it be other bohemian lovelies like Dree Hemingway, Alessandra Ambrosio, Sienna Miller or Rosie Huntington Whiteley. But with a stellar lineup of sleeker girls, too – think Beyonce or Gwynnie – there are going to be style spotting opportunities a plenty.
