Another week, another Miley Cyrus cover. The Wrecking Ball singer has been having a seriously good fashion run of late after starring in the new Marc Jacobs campaign and appearing on the cover of LOVE magazine. Now she’s also nabbed the March cover of influential W magazine with an interview by Mia’s son Ronan Farrow and a steamy shoot. So far, so Miley. But when we started to look at the pictures a little more closely, we noticed a curious phenomenon. Indeed we were suddenly reminded of yet another flaxen haired songstress, begging the question: has Miley the punk princess started to go a bit Gaga on us?
Miley Cyrus & Madonna Go Western
Flashback to last week and we were obsessing over Miley’s country look for her performance with Madonna. Channeling the Material Girl’s Music era look, Miley was certainly getting back to her Nashville roots. But her W shoot suggests that she’s also been inspired by another icon of blonde ambition. With her super bleached locks, bleached out eyebrows and fierce centurion style ensemble, Miley is the spit of the Mother Monster.
Fashion Twins Donatella Versace & Lady Gaga
Gaga in turn has been recently ‘twinning’ with yet another platinum poster girl, Donatella Versace. Gaga, who is currently starring in Versace’s Spring/Summer 2014 campaign, has published several pictures of herself and the Italian designer sporting identikit styles as the pair morph into each other one bodycon dress at a time.
So from Miley to Madonna to Lady Gaga to Donatella Versace, the icy blonde vixen is clearly the template for superstar style right now. Pity the poor colourists who must be working around the clock to keep up all those roots!
