We've known for a while that Cara Delevingne wants to be a singer/actress, as she said to W Magazine: 'I want to make music, I want to act, I want to sing, I want to do something that doesn’t make my skin erupt.' Well judging by Instagram it looks like the Cara Delevingne debut album is being cooked up as we type. Squeal!
Yesterday Cara posted pictures from inside the studio with Isabella "Machine" (that's the machine from Florence and the Machine) and Grammy Award winning, Golden Globe nominated song writer and producer Kuk Harrell with the caption 'the beginning'. Kuk is the songwriter and vocal producer for Rihanna and co-wrote a little song called Umbrella and was a composer on Beyonce's 'Single Ladies.' Sounds like a dream team to us!
Cara Delevingne spent the weekend partying in New York with her pal Rihanna so we imagine that the singer has given Cara her top tips to be a platinum-selling artist. Cara was also at the Yeezus show last night, where she had posed with Kim Kardashian and Mr Kanye West. It looks like Cara is being initiated into the Island Records crew - all that's left now is for her to hang out with the Queen Bey.
So what can we expect from a Cara Delevingne album? Well we've heard Cara Delevingne sing a couple of times now, as earlier in the year she shared a video of an acoustic version of 'Sonnentanz' ('The Sun Don't Shine') with singer Will Heard. We spoke to Cara backstage at Paris Fashion Week about the duet and she said: 'Standing next to him, I sound like a Goddamn backing singer! We did it twice, his guitar string broke and the next day it was out. I was like, "Oh my God! Jeez". I wasn't prepared.' It seems Cara is more content with busking on the streets. 'Wherever we go, we're making music, whether we're sitting in the bath or wherever… We just jam out.'
She also put on a cat mask and sang her heart out to, err, Shania Twain for LOVE Magazine. She belted out the anthem 'That Don't Impress Me Much!' while flipping her long, swishy ponytail. Then she had a go at singing 80s hit 'I Want Candy' for LOVE. Cara got to practice performing on stage at a DKNY party in June as she hopped up on stage with Rita Ora and sang the hit songs ‘Party and B*llshit’ and 'Shine Ya Light.' Cara told us backstage at Giles at London Fashion Week that music helps her relax, as she said: 'My way of relaxing was always doing the opposite and playing the drums, but I need to be able to actually chill.’
