While musicians, supermodels, bloggers and reality TV contestants clog up our Instagram feeds, Hollywood stars are few and far between on the photo-sharing platform. There's something about the big screen that affords a certain mystique to all that appear on it and most A-list actresses are keen to maintain at distance from the viewing public for fear that their own personas will interfere with how the characters that they play are perceived.
There are exceptions to the rule: Drew Barrymore for instance loves to share her latest nail art and Jessica Alba posts pictures of her adorable family, but we doubt there'll ever be a day when Tilda Swinton posts a selfie. Until this week we would have made a similarly definitive statement about Mad Men favourite January Jones, who has yet to reveal the father of her child and has earned somewhat of a chilly reputation thanks to the ice queen housewife Betty Draper she portrays on the show. But it turns out joining Instagram is the best thing that January could ever have done for her personal profile, as she's finally been exposed as BFF material.
She kicked off her Insta-career with a makeup chair selfie, putting herself in a vulnerable position and proving that she's not taking things to seriously by hashtagging the word 'hashtag'. As well as revealing her love of animals and her latest read (The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt), the actress has also given us a glimpse at her enviable wardrobe, including a personalised Charlotte Olympia clutch and a pair of Jimmy Choo embellished shoes: "These have to be the prettiest shoes I've ever seen. Can I wear them with my jammies watching the Super Bowl?! ??+??=?? #thankyousomuchjimmychoo".
It turns out that Miss Jones is friends with one of our other favourite blonde bombshells of the silver screen, Diane Kruger who conveyed her own "wacky" side in a goofy group shot with January and her gal pals. The two stars were enjoying a 'Girls night' and watching the classic movie Breakfast at Tiffany's with January exclaiming, "Love you ladies more than you will ever know". They're totes just like us!
Meanwhile The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie has set out to prove that brunettes can have just as much fun as she's dyed her once golden locks brown. Wearing a trucker cap and her hair wavy and to her shoulders, Margot unveiled her new look on Who Say with the caption, "First day on set for Z! She ain't a Duchess no more." Referring to her character in Martin Scorsese's Oscar-nominated film she reassures followers that the do is just for a role.
