Inside the Sophia Webster for J.Crew Launch Party

Last night London was a-buzz with fashion parties, but there was no question of missing J.Crew’s bash for their collaboration with the ultra talented shoe designer Sophia Webster. In full bloom, Sophia sported her bump proudly and we also managed to catch up with the redoubtable J.Crew president and executive creative director, Jenna Lyons who was fresh back from vay-cay in Jamaica.
 
Sophia’s collaboration – which will continue through to Autumn/ Winter 2014 – is a gorgeous expression of her pick ‘n’ mix aesthetic with poppy spike heels in pastel shades, plaid lace up stilettos and star printed heels in pretty coral. Hidden in amongst a display of sweetie jars at the party, Sophia’s shoes are the perfect foil to J.Crew’s cocktail trousers and cigarette pants. With 13 styles on offer, each made in the shoe designer’s factory and available online and at selected J.Crew stores, there’s something to tempt your fancy. Priced from £240 - £540, each style is a proper investment piece.

Nibbling on mini cheese toasties we also took the opportunity to look around J.Crew’s beautiful new Brompton Road store. Full of J.Crew Collection (the pieces from the high end line presented at New York Fashion Week) the store is stacked to the rafters with covetable pieces. We were particularly enamoured with J.Crew’s signature crystal bedecked sweaters and necklaces and this reporter has a major yen for the beautiful loafers made in collaboration with specialists Stubbs & Wooton.
