Margherita Missoni has opened up about how she is finding being pregnant for the first time while grieving the loss of her uncle Vittorio and her Grandfather Ottavio.
It has been a difficult year for the Missoni family as Vittorio Missoni, the chief executive of the Missoni fashion house, was killed in a plane crash off the coast of Venezuela during its short flight from the resort island of Los Roques. Then in May Ottavio Missoni, the founder of the Italian Missoni label and retired Olympic hurdler, passed away at home in the town of Sumirago at the age of 92 surrounded by his family.
Margherita said to The Times 'Of course it was hard for me, especially because I’m pregnant. I’ve had a very intense pregnancy, with all the things that have happened, but it wasn’t my father — other family members have had a harder time. We are hoping this will be closed very soon.'
Margherita added that the family have helped each other: 'It has helped us a lot that there are so many of us and we are so tight. It’s easier than if you were having to face it all on your own.' This is the first time that a member of the Missoni family has spoken about Vittorio since the plane was found.

Margherita said about her pregnancy: 'It’s the first baby born in our family for 18 years. Everyone is getting very excited about him being born. I’m going to have a big network of support because Missoni headquarters is in the countryside outside Milan and my grandmother’s house is 400m from mine. I can come to the office and the baby can be out in the woods with her. I’m very, very lucky.'
Margherita also spoke about her new zigzag-tastic home, which she showcased on her Instagram account this week. Marg said about her new casa: 'You really crave a nest when you’re pregnant, but I’ve only just managed to do it a month before the baby is due.'
