Whether or not you're in a relationship or flying solo, you can't have failed to notice that yesterday was Valentine's Day. Is it just us or was the loving vibe more obvious than ever this year? It felt like we couldn't move for bouquets of roses, candlelit dinners and smug couples locking lips in the middle of the street. Cupid was clearly working overtime.
Naturally the first place everyone turned to revel in the romance was Instagram - and that included celebrities from Jessica Alba to Victoria Beckham. Mariah Carey did her best Samantha Jones impression as she prepared a special surprise for her hubby Nick Cannon and then waited for him to return to their home for the big reveal. And waited. And waited. Luckily the singer kept fans up to date with the situation, but unlike Sex & The City's Samantha she didn't attempt to prepare Nick sushi, but instead she ran a bubble bath, put on a set of candy underwear, poured a glass of champagne and took a dip in the tub.
By the looks of her Insta photo shoot Nick took his time coming home, but he more than made up for it when he did. The actor gave Mariah a 'You're mine' Valentine's Day necklace, which he posted on Instagram with the caption: "Had to give my beautiful wife a little Valentine's Day Surprise! #YoureMine #Diamonds #CandyBra #ConfettiOnTheBody #PartyTime #PutTheKidsToBed".
The Cannon-Careys weren't the only A-list couple celebrating, as Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren played hookie with a bottle of pink fizz, Lauren Conrad and her fiancé William Tell celebrated both Valentine's Day and their anniversary simultaneously and Millie Mackintosh and Professor Green returned to Paris where they got engaged last year.
Those who weren't doing the smoochy thing included Glee castmates Lea Michele and Chris Colfer, who had a friend date and Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel, who cuddled up to some adorable puppies.
