Should you be so lucky as to go to such a posh thing as the polo on a fine summer’s day, it’d be a good idea to check out the finely dressed fillies here. A bevy of beauties including Samantha Barks, Anna Friel and Laura Carmichael attended the St Regis International Polo Cup in Sussex sporting the fanciest of hot-weather frocks and therefore, convincingly hearlding the arrival of a new season. Hurrah!
Obviously there are some rules when it comes to appropriate polo styling. Although the official dress is smart casual – that does leave one’s wardrobe open to casualties with the unpredictable Blighty climate. But quite simply: excess flesh-flashing is not spiffing and neither is denim. What does work well is a dress with a modest hemline (and if it’s short, the fit won’t be tight) with no-makeup-makeup, big sunglasses and a good pair of shoes that won’t plunge into the ground but are suitable enough for a spot of divot tufting at half time.
Scooping the gold cup for fashion gloriousness is actress Ophelia Lovibond. She looked demure but divine in a midi-shift from bespoke British designer Emilia Wickstead. The brown and muted pink stripe said ‘I’m not afraid to do something different’ while her girly bunches only spoke of having a fun time.
Close behind was Laura Carmichael in an embellished pink mini and Anna Friel in a flattering cut-away LWD. It looks like all had a jolly good time; so before you make your final sundress decisions, check out the gallery of girls above.
