This year has been full of great red-carpet moments and whilst some stars have continued to hit the best dressed lists from last year to this, others have come on leaps and bounds. From the transformation of Kim Kardashian from body con lover to Givenchy gladded glamazon and the shedding of Disney good girl to sassy siren for Selena Gomez here are five ladies who have basically made us forget what they even dressed like in 2012. We give you the five hottest fashion transformations of 2013…
5. The Hollywood Glamazon: Amy Adams

Progress report: Amy Adams hit the premiere trail for Superman back in the summer and impressed us immensely with her string of red carpet wonders and the year has ended with Amy back out there promoting her latest movie, American Hustle wowing one gown at a time. Fun fact: Amy has been nominated for FOUR academy awards and is yet to win. Yet all of those nominations came in the Best Supporting Actress category and we are seeing someone emerging who is very much a leading lady in the style stakes with her taste for sophisticated, clean cut Hollywood glamour.
The labels: Antonio Berardi, Elie Saab, Oscar de la Renta, Lanvin, Nina Ricci
Stand-out moment: Back in February at the Academy Awards, after shedding her strapless Oscar de la Renta dress with full layered skirt Amy slipped into another knock out dress from the designer for the Vanity Fair after-party. The dress was a homage to the twenties flapper days, with its floor length fringed nude sequins and with barely any accessories. The only accompaniment she needed was that radiant porcelain skin of hers.
4. From School Girl to Woman: Lea Michele
From left: In Calvin Klein, Dolce and Gabbana and Elie Saab (Getty)
Progress report: It has certainly been a tough year for the Glee star with the death of her co-star boyfriend, Cory Monteith ,but it has also been a year of professional highs for Lea Michele with the release of her solo material. This year has also seen Lea shedding her squeaky-clean image in favour of an altogether mature and sexier look. From a knock out award season, appearing in a white split hem Elie Saab gown at the Golden Globes, a floor length strapless pink Valentino vision at the SAG awards and two cut and slashed Calvin Klein ensembles in recent months, Lea has been quite the style chameleon this year.
The labels: Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Elie Saab, Dolce and Gabbana
Stand-out moment: As the face or L'Oreal Paris, Lea Michelle attended the brand’s Women of Worth event early in December wearing a bejewelled red lace dress from Dolce and Gabbana. Whilst the look has been seen on everyone, including Helen Mirren, Lea brought a breath of youth to the dress with a beach ready platted pony tail. It was a text book example of how to do glamorous whilst still staying engaged with your youth.
3. The Cutting Edge Audrey Hepburn: Lily Collins

Progress report: The daughter of Phil Collins has certainly made her presence felt this year by starring in the much awaited film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and having the red carpet know-how to back up the hype! Lily, 24, has based her looks around reveal and conceal, whilst the silhouette may be super sophisticated her youth shines through with a slash at the midriff or a split at the hem. The British born actress has even represented the great British High Street by donning the much coveted Whistles leather trousers and supported up-and-coming brands such as the break out brand, Paper London. As Lily heads into 2014 she is now the face of Lancome and with eyebrows that give Cara Delevingne a run for her tweezers it looks like we haven’t seen anything yet!
The labels: Paper London, Versace, Valentino, Roland Mouret, Zuhair Murad, Givenchy
Stand-out moment: In August Lily attended the Flaunt magazine and G-star Raw party in Los Angeles wearing a Roland Mouret monochrome ensemble. Teaming her white pleated crop top with a contrast fabric panelled black skirt Lily topped off the look with a tousled up-do, which was sophisticated and youthful in equal measures.
2. Body Con Obsessive to Maximum Max Mara: Kim Kardashian

Progress report: Where can you begin with the transformation of Kim Kardashian from body con obsessive to the darling of Riccardo Tisci? Kanye West would be a good place to begin perhaps, as his fashion connections have certainly lead the reality TV star into the most exclusive of style spheres. It’s safe to say that she has had a bumpy ride on the fashion rollercoaster this year, but with her questionable maternity fashion behind her and her body right back where it was pre-pregnancy Kim is been sprinting out of the style blocks.
The Labels: Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, Max Mara, Versus, Dolce and Gabbana
Stand-out moment: Kim Kardashian is someone who knows the benefits of great outerwear. When she appeared on the red carpet of The Hollywood Reporter Annual Women in Entertainment breakfast wearing a vivid yellow Max Mara coat we sat up and acknowledged a considerable transformation. Her teddy bear coat from the same brand also delivered a knock-out Kardashian moment.
1. A Vision in Versace: Selena Gomez
From right: In Verace, Versace Atelier and J.W.Anderson's collection for Versus (Getty)
Progress report: Just like Lily Collins, Selena Gomez has proven the value of a jolly good crop top this year. When she stepped out in front of the audience on the Late Show with David Letterman wearing exactly that and a 90s double split skirt from J.W.Anderson’s Versus collection we were greeted with a Gomez post Justin Beiber: an altogether sexier and sassier dresser. Even from the promotion of Spring Breakers right back in February to the end of the year there has been a transformation from girl next door good girl to the split dressed of Versace, which spell out ‘Hello I am a woman now!’ Laters Disney!
The labels: Dolce and Gabbana, David Koma and A LOT of Versace and Versus
Stand-out moment: With such a baby face it’s tough to pull off ‘womanly’, but Selena did just that when she attended the VMA awards in August wearing a floor length Versace Atelier gown with studded detailing and exposed bustier. The result was jaw dropping and showed you can be sexy without stripping out of a teddy bear costume and revealing your nude latex underwear, cough, cough, Miley Cyrus.
