Poppy Delevingne and Theo Niarchos as Margot and Richie Tenenbaum from 'The Royal Tenenbaums'

This is a dream combination - Poppy Delevingne makes a fine Margot Tenenbaum from The Royal Tenenbaums, tucking her hair into a fur coat to recreate the character's blunt bob. Add the smoky eye makeup and a guy who looks vaguely like a former tennis pro and the supermodel is on to a winner.

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren as 'The Witches of Eastwick'

What fun! Jessia Alba and her hubby Cash Warren clearly having a ball as they dress up as Daryl Van Horne and Alexandra Medford from The Witches of Eastwick - characters made famous by Jack Nicholson and Cher. Jess even roped in a couple of friends to play Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer's parts. '80s gold!

Nicole Richie and a friend as Julius Benedict and Vincent Benedict from 'Twins'

We never thought we'd see Nicole Richie dressed as Danny DeVito, but we've got to hand it to her, she's found the perfect partner to recreate the actor and his Twins co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger's height differences. Extra points awarded for recreating the film poster.

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady as Dorothy and The Cowardly Lion from 'The Wizard of Oz'

We don't seem to remember a scene in The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy and The Cowardly Lion have a snog, but Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady make it work.

Kelly Osbourne as Joan Harris from 'Mad Men'

Kelly Osbourne certainly has the curves (and the attitude) to play Mad Men siren Joan Harris.

Alessandra Ambrosio as The Red Queen from 'Alice In Wonderland'

We've never seen such a glamorous Red Queen from Alice In Wonderland as Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio. If anything she's too sexy to pull off the mad character.

Daisy Lowe as Jessica Rabbit from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'

Daisy Lowe's killer bod comes in good use when dressing up as one of the most lusted after cartoon characters of all time - Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Hollywood provides an endless source of inspiration when it comes to Halloween costumes whether it's heroes, villains, heroines or comic foils. Costumes are used within the movie industry to build up an image of a character so whether you're putting on Batman's cape or stepping into Dorothy's red shoes as soon as you put on your fancy dress ensemble it's likely that you'll be instantly recognisable as the person that you're dressing up as. Or not!

Of course those who are already a part of the film and fashion industries perhaps have an upper hand with their transformations. Last year saw Jamie Hince and Kate Moss take on Morticia and Gomez Addams and Gwen Stefani and her No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal as Sandy and Danny from Grease while so far this Halloween the likes of Jessica Alba and Cash Warren (as Jack Nicholson and Cher in The Witches of Eastwick) have dazzled us with their costume capabilities.

Imitating movie characters continues to be a popular trend for 2013, but have the likes of Nicole Richie, Gisele Bundchen and Poppy Delevingne got it right?
