From stilettos to sneakers, slingbacks to sandals, the store has curated a vast edit of footwear, all showcased in a spanking-new five-star setting.
In celebration of the opening, the team at Harrods has enlisted a dizzying array of designers, from Alaïa to Christian Louboutin, to come up with an exclusive shoe for its ‘Silver Lining’ collection. Harrods Fashion Director Helen David was behind the concept and worked closely with renowned architects David Collins Studio and the individual brands to get the luxe feel of the new shoe floor. Think an art deco theme including decorated columns and bespoke furniture. We spoke to Helen about the shoe paradise and her favourite styles from the Silver Lining collection...
Grazia Daily: What was the thinking behind Harrods Shoe Heaven?
Helen David: With shoes becoming an ever increasingly important part of the way a woman dresses, and indeed a key part of our business, we have created a truly fabulous shoe destination in Harrods, to celebrate this. From stilettos to sneakers, Harrods Shoe Heaven will be home to all the best shoes from the world’s leading and need-to-know designers.
Welcome to shoe heaven [Harrods]
Grazia Daily: Why did you decide to create Harrods Shoe Heaven?
Helen David: In Womenswear, Shoes have been one of our fastest growing categories over the last few years. We needed to do something spectacular to celebrate this category which is all encompassing and appeals to all customers. Shoe Heaven was borne of this. Shoe Heaven is one of the biggest projects ever undertaken by Harrods and will offer a luxurious and sophisticated environment with 17 flagship shops for all of our best loved brands.
Grazia Daily: What makes Harrods Shoe Heaven unique?
Helen David: With over 42,000 sq ft dedicated to the best possible edit of footwear brands, Harrods Shoe Heaven now sits apart from any competition as the most luxurious shoe department in the world. The floor feels more five star hotel, less generic shoe floor and more high end luxury with wow factor. Additionally, our service is second to none with most of the seventeen boutiques having exquisite VIP rooms for personal shopping to service the needs of our customers, whilst showcasing an unrivalled product offering and an extended edit of exclusives.
Grazia Daily: What has been the most exciting part of the process?
Helen David: The entire project has been hugely exciting. We started from scratch, we weren’t working around an existing space, so we were able to create something truly spectacular without compromising on any of our ideals to fit in with an existing space. Working with each of the brands on their shopfit concepts, offer, and exclusive ranges as well as overseeing the project in general from a-z has been fantastic.

Grazia Daily: Talk us through the Silver Lining collection?
Helen David: I wanted to celebrate the launch with a limited edition collection of footwear designed exclusively for Harrods Shoe Heaven. I asked each designer to re-create their most iconic style and add a heavenly silver touch. The collection is made up of 37 of today’s most iconic shoes in silver by designers including Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Giuseppe Zanotti and Jimmy Choo. Choose from metallic silver Valentino Rockstuds to Manolo Blahnik’s silver brooch-adorned Ariona mule, to silver leather Kitty flats by Charlotte Olympia and silver booties from Alaïa – every style a perfect addition to an Autumn/Winter wardrobe and for the forthcoming festive season.
