Last Christmas our childhood dreams came true when Harrods brought Disney princesses to life in their festive window displays. You might remember that fashion heavyweights were recruited to create magical princess gowns - there was Valentino's buttery Belle gown, Oscar de la Renta's dramatic Snow White creation and Versace's gold Cinderella gown.

Well now the story has a happy-ever after ending, as 10 of the enchanting dresses are to be auctioned to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The one of a kind princess-inspired dresses will be sold in November by auction house Christies.

Disney has a long-standing relationship with the hospital as Walt Disney first visited Great Ormond Street in 1951 and the company pledged to raise £10 million a year for its charity.

Clare Borthwick, Vintage Couture Specialist at Christie’s, said: 'We are really looking forward to auctioning these inspirational pieces that embody both high-end fashion and childhood nostalgia. They will be a fantastic addition to our annual Vintage Couture sale, which is taking place on the 13 November 2013. The rarity of these items mixed with the global appeal of Disney Princesses will make these extremely sought-after, and we expect much interest from around the world.'

The only question is, which Disney princess are you?  Well if you are an Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Snow White or a Tiana there is a designer gown waiting just for you. Wannabe princesses can send over an email to princess.dresses@disney.co.uk to find out more.

For those of us who don't have the budget to get close to an original Oscar de la Renta, see the dresses in the Harrods Christmas window below...
