Happy Birthday Annna Wintour! The editor turned 64 yesterday, so to celebrate we have trawled through the archives to find the best pictures from her decades on the FROW - we do love a fash pack flashback here at Grazia.
Buyers and fashion journos have been looking at the back of Wintour's bob since the 80s. The editrix is the master of the twinset, sticking to tweed, cardigans and strings of pearls. These days the most outlandish thing you'll catch her in is Prada florals or a teal leather coat. But even fashion's gatekeeper didn't escape the 80s without a skeleton (or ten) in her closet.
Ms Wintour has been the editor of US Vogue since 1988, so has been watching fashion week from behind her sunglasses for a quarter of a century. But her 90s FROW look was less chic and more, err, disco as she wore crystal mini dresses, rainbow sequins and gold lycra turtlenecks. Forget taupe tweed, 90s Anna worked with a clown colour palette and had a weakness for novelty sweatshirts.
Our favourite retro Anna look is the bell-bottom jeans, stars and stripes heart tee and green fur shrug, which she paired with her trusty string of pink pearls. This might have been the era of Britney Spears and her Texas suit, but a United States tee Anna? How could you? But it wasn't all garish sparkles, as she also pulled off a LRD (little red dress) and a shorts suit like no one else.
Take look at Anna Wintour's fashion flashback in the gallery above. Look out for a baby-faced Karl Lagerfeld, Naomi Campbell and Donna Karan who all make cameos...
