GALLERY >> H&M’s 10 Greatest Campaign Stars

1: Last year David ‘Golden Balls’ Beckham launched his own line of undies, sorry, bodywear with H&M. The black and white ad shots were enough to cause mass hysteria, let alone the TV commercial (the running!) and the silver larger-than-life statue in store. #Ohlordy!

2: Way back in 2007 the original Material Girl Madonna took her styling skills to the high street chain with a collection called M by Madonna. It was a ferociously monochrome collection of tailoring.

3: Lana Del Rey took two turns as an H&M model for Autumn and Winter 2012. She snuggled up in cosy knits, lounged in leather pants and flaunted one of her biggest hairdos to date. She didn’t wear any blue velvet, but she did perform the classic song in a David Lynch-inspired vid campaign.

4: Brazilian super Gisele lent her tanned limbs to a very boho Spring 2011 campaign for H&M.

5: Georgia May Jagger is one of H&M’s latest ladies, playing up to her rock heritage with a beehive and guitar. After starring alongside her model mama Jerry Hall, GMJ is flying solo for Spring 2013.

6: Vanessa Paradis is the face of H&M’s ethical line, the Conscious Collection, for this season. Her fine French features perfectly match the collection’s fairy-like floral prints and ethereal chiffon dresses.

7: Freja Beha and Anja Rubik paired up for Fall 2011’s mod-ish collection campaign.

8: Karen Elson and her sister starred in the same Christmas 2011 campaign as Georgia May and Jerry Hall, but the flame-hired siren has was also H&M’s main girl for Autumn two years earlier.

9: Katy Perry and Rihanna. Yeh, you don’t remember that one do you? But in 2008 the popstrels took part in H&M’s Fashion Against AIDs campaign.

10: Oscar winner Sofia Coppola directed the video campaign for Marni’s haute collaboration last year. Brit actress Imogen Poots was the leading lady, wearing the collection ahead of the A-list likes of Jessica Chastain, Freida Pinto and Drew Barrymore.

Is Beyoncé H&M’s biggest celebrity coup to date? The Swedish super-brand has bagged the bootilicious talents of the one and only B – or as we’re now coming around to calling her: Mrs Carter - to star in their high summer campaign print ads, billboards and video content. A BIG deal, yes, but she’s not the first major star to bring some major A-list swagger to the low-price high-fashion superstore’s books…

Remember the monochrome days of Queen Madge Madonna? And one would imagine that David Beckham’s pants are still being played on repeat in the minds of many fans worldwide. What of the many supermodels who have played high street dress up? Karen Elson, Gisele, Anja Rubik… you name a catwalk sensation and H&M will sign ‘em up faster than you can say £19.99.
