Isabel Marant backstage at her Spring Summer 2013 show
H&M are doing a sterling job of sweeping up every powerhouse designer to create a one-off designer-high street collection from Lanvin to Versace to Maison Martin Margiela. At Grazia Towers we had bets on who would be the next designer to unleash chaos in H&M stores - but this morning the news broke that the next designer to enter the H&M spotlight is... drumroll please... Isabel Marant.
The Parisian designer, who started her label in 1994, will create a clothing and accessories line for women and teenagers - plus her first ever collection for men. This designer collab will hit stores on 14 November 2013 in 250 stores worldwide.
So what can we expect? Well Marant is the ultimate off-duty label, with a rock n' roll and bohemian edge. Think slouchy knits, trophy jackets, earthy florals and peasant blouses. The Marant girl is also an explorer, as her shows are often an ode to a place, with western boots and shirts, navajo knits and Native American fringing.
Isabel said of teaming up with the high street giant: 'I am flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honour. I aim at creating something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed following one’s own instincts: my take on fashion is all about personality.' Sounds mighty good to us.
This designer knows what women want. She is responsible for many mega must-haves, such as the wedge sneaks seen on everyone from Beyonce to Kate Bosworth. Another Isabel Marant shoe sensation are the 'Dicker' ankle booties, spotted on the likes of Rosie Huntington Whitely and Katie Holmes. Statement jeans are also at the heart of her label, so we can plenty expect plenty of art-attacked denim lining the shelves at H&M.
Remember the cowboy shirt Kate Bosworth wore to Coachella? Marant. Cheryl Cole's red cross Navajo jeans? Marant. Mossy's studded heel booties? Marant. Yep this is a lady with the cool factor - we're predicting a shopping scrum come 14 November.
Can't wait till then? We've made our predictions for the H&M line, from the possible campaign stars to the jewellery, to the celebrity fan club we expect to see at the launch parties.
While we wait, take a look at stars wearing Isabel Marant in the gallery below...
