Michael Kors and Gwyneth Paltrow [WWD]
Gwyneth Paltrow’s renowned website Goop has seen many an exclusive (only last month we saw the launch of her new capsule collection with Stella McCartney); her multi-faceted expertise on fashion travel, health, exercise and food has made it a go-to for clean all-American living (despite her frequent UK habitat). So it’s no wonder that she has collaborated with All-Star designer, Michael Kors.
We know she’s a huge fan of his super classic designs, we remember her in that cut-out dress at the God’s Love We Deliver annual Golden Heart Awards last year and she continues to love them, as she told WWD “Michael’s clothes are gorgeous, staple, American classics that never go out of style… I thought it would be wonderful to reinvent some of my favorite vintage Michael Kors looks that I have kept for years, that I wear over and over.”
So they set out to revive some of Gwyneth’s favourite pieces: a cashmere cape, a peacoat and a somewhat less classic peplum turtleneck but in lighter renditions and with a bit more gloss as Michael Kors said, “We both love idea of shine and how it can really change something. We felt it’s time for the peacoat to have a little bit of glamour with these very modernist metallic buttons.” Of course there will be some of Kors' key products - the glossy accessories and leather-wear.
It’s also no wonder that the global brand was drawn to Gwyneth’s wide reach and multi-talents too. “I have always been intrigued by the idea of someone who can juggle all the balls in the air and do it with great style, make it look easy, be smart and have a sense of humour," says Mr Kors. "We always said, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if some time, we could do something together, in whatever way.’" And now their dreams have come true! We can't wait to see the results...
