The latest Autumn 2013 campaign to land in our inbox comes from Gucci, and it's got the intoxicating new car smell. We didn't think we could be so flustered by an Autumn Winter mens eyewear campaign, but not all ads star Mr James Franco.
The scruffed up Gucci God wears a pair of reflective aviator shades as he drives his red convertable down a palm tree lined highway. Forget the cornrows and gold teeth in Spring Breakers, this is Franco at his finest. The Gucci gaze, the tan, the bit of scruff, the palm trees in his lenses... Gucci did good.
His shades in the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott campaign are called Black Bamboo and will be available in October, just in case he has done his job and sold them to you. These sunnies are inspired by the classic Bamboo version Gucci ran in Spring 2013 - the bamboo cane has been a Gucci signature since 1947.
Franco is also the face of the new Gucci Made to Measure fragrance for men. Hardly a surprising casting as Franco has been Gucci's secret weapon since he was named the face of the fragrance line back in 2008. Since then he has been a front row fixture and worn a Gucci suit like no other.
He has also worn a Gucci director's cap, as he produced a fashion film Director about what happens backstage at the fashion house - a profile of Frida Giannini. She was obviously impressed by his work, rewarding him with a shiny new campaign and we imagine a lifetime supply of Black Bamboo sunnies.
