CONGRATS! Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini Has Given Birth To A Daughter, Greta

UPDATE: Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini has announced that she has given birth to her first child Greta with husband Patrizio di Marco. A spokesperson for Gucci said that 'both mother and baby are doing well.' Congratulations to the new parents. Frida went on maternity leave after taking a bow at Gucci's autumn winter 2013 show at Milan Fashion Week last month [below].

28 November: Frida Giannini Is Pregnant

There is a baby-boom in designer land as Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen, is pregnant and don't forget that Tom Ford announced the birth of son Alexander John Buckley Ford back in October. And now the creative director of Gucci, Frida Giannini, is pregnant with her first child with Patrizio di Marco, the label's president and CEO. Something in their sparkling water?

So what does that mean for the next few seasons at Gucci? Giannini, 40, is not expected to take maternity leave until the autumn/ winter 2013 shows have finito in February. But WWD reports she won't be away from Gucci for long, as she will be back to start on the men's shows in June. No rest for a mega-designer, right?

Gucci's power couple announced they started dating in 2009 in an interview with the Financial Times in October 2011 and said they would have left their positions at Gucci if the owner François-Henri Pinault had a problem with their relationship.

"The relationship Frida and I have is very serious," revealed Di Marco back in 2011. "When in life, you choose someone to be with - someone you are looking to spend your life with - well, this is a match of minds and souls. We don't agree on everything. But you only really argue when you have something important to argue about. Otherwise you realise it's not worth it."

So now down to the important business - what will a Gucci maternity wardrobe look like? We have delved into the Gucci archives to predict what Frieda will wear for nine months, and we have picked out flowing gowns, oversized coats and maxis. And we imagine she will rely on the ultimate maternity accessory - the fabulous hangbag. Everyone from Beyonce to Fearne Cotton have tried out the bump and cover technique and Frieda has access to some ah-mazing bump blocker Gucci it bags.
