The Fashion Film From Our 'Signature Style' Shoot
This week marks the arrival of our Big Fashion Issue, a 292 page spectacular with an epic 895 buys and ideas for Autumn/Winter. Oh we are good to you.
The issue begins with a cover styled by the supreme stylist, Katie Grand and shot by photographer Angelo Pennetta who has previously shot covers for Dazed & Confused, ID, international Vogues and campaigns for Chloe and Jimmy Choo amongst others. You can also find an exclusive interview by our Fashion Director, Susannah Frankel with Marc Jacobs, as well as a shoot, again styled by Katie Grand, starring the Louis Vuitton Creative Director and Jacobs’ right hand woman, Julie de Libran.
Whilst this season sees designers presenting either a lady or a tramp, which two of our main fashion shoots explore. A number of designers have also simply returned to what inspired them most. Enter our leading fashion story from the Big Fashion Issue, ‘Signature Style’ styled by our Senior Fashion Editor, Gemma Hayward and shot by Arved Colvin-Smith.
Dolce and Gabbana draws on their Sicilian heritage, whereas Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen re-examining her love of the romance of ruffles. Comme Des Garcons are exploring the infinite possibilities of tailoring, while the first gentleman of grunge, Marc Jacobs, revisits the trend that made him.
This shoot pin points what a number of key designers love most: Valentino’s collared femininity, Prada’s Hitchcock heroine, Celine’s pared down separates, Chanel’s tweed, Jil Sander’s menswear inspired simplicity, Junya Watanabe’s reinvention of American heritage and Chalayan’s return to concept based fashion.
