We bet you're probably fed up with award shows after this evening's BAFTAs extravaganza? No? Well here goes red carpet round number two as the Grammys kick off at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
While Hollywood’s finest may be raising a glass at a rain-soaked BAFTA-party as we speak, the music industry’s hottest stars haven't even made it to their seats yet, let alone popped a bottle of bubbly.
Earlier this week we gave you our round up of the top 10 things to look out for at this year’s Grammy's ceremony from a saucy Rihanna performance to Alicia Keys’ duet with Maroon 5. But far more importantly we wanted to know what dazzling gown Taylor Swift would pull out of the bag (J Mendel) and which designer would prove most popular on the red carpet (Roberto Cavalli so far folks).
Carly Rae Jepsen revealed that she experienced a Princess moment in her Cavalli frock. The 'Call Me Maybe' singer explained "I’m such a girl sometimes. I tried on eight different dresses until I knew. When I put on this dress it felt like the moment in Disney's A Little Mermaid when Ariel gets her human legs."
Another star whose ensemble had somewhat of a mermaid-like quality was Brit singer Florence Welch in a custom made Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown with matching shoes and clutch. She told E! "I’ve worn Givenchy to every Grammy Awards that I’ve been to. I’m very lucky and Riccardo Tisci is so generous and he’s such a genius. He sent sketches and different coloured sequins across and for me, with my hair colour it really works; it’s exactly the same shade as my eyes.”
Green goddesses Solange Knowles, Katy Perry and Florence Welch
Katy Perry, also in green, took inspiration from "Priscilla Presley in the 70s" for her red carpet look including a floor-length Gucci gown which came close to defying a Grammy dress code requiring that breasts be adequately covered. Not to be outdone, risqué RiRi showed off her nipple rings through a stunning custom red Alaia dress.
So stay tuned and see all the looks from the 2013 Grammy Awards in the gallery above and let us know which frock is your favourite...
