Frock o'clock is here, people. It's the moment we've long been waiting for and at last our beloved A-listers have landed at the first major awards show of 2014. Yes, the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards are now underway. Hurrah!
The swanky event is taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California with real life BFFs Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returning as hosts. But before the comedic duo reveal who'll be taking home those little golden statues, our attention is focused on the fancy dresses currently swarming into the venue. The chiffon! The ruffles! The magpie-swooning sparkles! It's mega.

Of course, all eyes are on red carpet pros - we're talking to you, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett - but there's plenty of awards season newbies too in the form of Lupita Nyong'o, who may be crowned GG's best-dressed, and the so-far-so-stylish Margot Robbie, who looks divine in Gucci.
Earlier this week, Ms Blanchett admitted she struggles to keep her nerves under control at award shows. The Blue Jasmine star, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, admits she usually gets a few jitters before walking the red carpet but tries to focus on the bigger picture. 'It could be nerve wracking having that many pictures taken of like your nasal hair. But look, in the end, it's a celebration of performances in film and television and that's what you have to remind yourself,' the Australian actress told EOnline.com. In fact, Cate confessed she considered recycling an ensemble for the night. GASP! But that was before she found her dream dress in a 'minute and a half', courtesy of Armani. 'It's pretty. When else do you get to be a debutante?...When else do get to do that? It's a fantastic thing.' We couldn't agree more!

On the trends front, we're delighted to see splashes of colour courtesy of Lena Dunham in yellow Zac Posen and a whole lotta red from Emma Watson, Lupita in Ralph Lauren and Amy Adams in Valentino. Meanwhile, Michelle Dockery, Naomi Watts and Zooey Deschanel are shimmering in sparkling neutrals. There's also several baby bumps gracing the shindig tonight (major trend, anyone?) in the form of Kerry Washington, Drew Barrymore and Olivia Wilde who are all accessorising with a pregnancy glow.
Thanks to the wonders of social media, we're also being treated to a peek at the preening process. Kelly Osbourne Instagrammed her dress drama: a broken zip on her full-length frock. Yikes! And Zooey Deschanel is back to her Nail Queen best with a gorgeously girlie daisy manicure to complement her Oscar de la Renta gown. Bravo!
